Next Generation Politics
Next Generation Politics is an organization that encourages youth all over the country to get involved with politics and civic engagement. The organization has a ton of different ways to get involved:
Participating in Civic Forums: Each year, 6-8 Civic Fellows from 12 different NYC high schools are selected in the fall using an application. One Sunday a month, they come together using a “deliberative dialogue framework” to talk about issues like Voting Rights and Voter Engagement, Immigration, Criminal Justice, etc.
Podcast: There is a podcast called “The Round Table,” available on most major platforms like Spotify, where you can join as a commentator or an editor. This work includes selecting issues to focus on, creating questions for interviews and editing podcasts.
Summer Civic Fellowship: Similar to the school year Civic Fellow program, this gives participating fellows skills from and with experts and peers across an array of perspectives. For example, participators might explore questions such as “What would a just and equitable criminal justice system look like and how do we create it?”
Blog: The website has a blog space where students can write about political and civic matters. Full-time contributors must commit to writing a minimum of one piece every 4 weeks. You can sign up to contribute here.
Chapter: Create your own chapter at your school to discuss important issues! They will supply you with an introductory email to your school, a form for sign-ups, and a framework for meetings in their Six Week Starter Kit for Civil Discourse.
In addition, they have new positions regarding art and graphic design available!
