This week’s opportunity post is sharing an organization that the editors of the site have heard a lot about. Urban Word NYC is an incredibly reputable and popular group that serves and encourages the young writers in our city. They run a bunch of workshops, competitions, and events for young writers, poets, and other creatives to take advantage of. To read about all of them, go to their website and check them out.

On our instagram post, they talked about a new, virtual, opportunity that they put together called First Draft Open Mic. This weekly program is an opportunity for any interested teens and college students to share their work and experience a free writing workshop to build and improve it. This is a great chance to share any of the new writing or music you’ve created over quarantine with a critical and receptive audience. It’s every Tuesday, 3-5 PM, and it’s open to everyone!
